The Akron Urban League is pleased to present its annual celebration of the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This breakfast is an opportunity for all residents of Summit County to come together and help us share Dr. King’s vision of a more perfect union. Dr. King inspired us to believe in personal, social, and global change. He showed the world the unstoppable power of his dream for racial equality, diversity, and love. Perhaps most important, Dr. King taught us that everyone can make a difference, and every day is a chance to own our legacy.

A glimpse of gospel, jazz, and soul from the great legends is what inspires the sound of pianist Theron Brown’s music. The artist that first stimulated Theron’s interest in jazz music was pianist, Thelonious Monk. Although Monk’s genius was hard for him to digest at first listen, he found something very intriguing about his sparse touch and exotic harmonies. As an artist, the musicians that Theron has performed with have been many and varied, and across all genres, and his worldwide performances, particularly those with trios, quartets, and big bands, brought him recognition from numerous places all around the world.
The Theron Brown Trio (Theron Brown, Zaire [Zigg] Darden, Jordan McBride) is in the business of making you feel good and digging into the roots of jazz, gospel, and fusion. The trio is truly special and has a sound that is recognized in Northeast Ohio as something to be excited about!
